The idea of CSR in INITTO
As a company we believe we have a social obligation towards the societies we operate in. We want to be able to operate in a manner that is beneficial to us as well as the immediate surroundings. We gain a lot from operating in India and Ukraine, and we want to ensure that we give back to the societies.
We want to raise the standard and be on the forefront and show the way. Our Corporate Social Responsibility programs are already well developed internally, and the goal in the foreseeable future is to extend our programs into larger external projects.
Hiring policy and work environment
Internally we operate with a fair hiring policy. We have a policy of equal opportunity in terms of religion, sex, race, age, color, national origin, disabilities etc.
We believe that the idea matters, and not who comes up with it. We have a low degree of hierarchy in all our offices, and we believe that everybody should have a chance to speak up and be heard. This is an advantage for our employees as well as the company, since we do not miss out on any great ideas.
We want to have a transparent work environment and we have an open door policy where everybody can go to everybody with ideas as well as problems. None of our employees should ever be met by a closed door.
Employee policies
All of our employee policies are focused on employee welfare as well as what is best for the company. The policies range from no-smoking policies to fresh fruit for everybody every day, as well as anniversary policies and marriage leave where our employees are celebrated and recognized. The policies are specified for the individual office and the country we operate in, so that the policies are tailor-made for the exact culture and the employees working in the offices.
It is important to us that our employees are socially aware and responsible, and we try to ensure this in different ways. We have an arrangement where fines are paid for not following procedures; the money from these fines goes to different charities, and we thereby ensure that people either follow our procedures or are charitable.
Campaigns and arrangements
We have different campaigns and events in all our offices where we focus on employee welfare and Corporate Social Responsibility. Some of these campaigns are ongoing and repeated, and others are onetime events.
An example is our Blood Donation campaigns every six months. In the weeks before the actual donation, we have information campaigns, where emails informning of the importance of blood donation are sent to all employees. The actual donation takes place over an entire afternoon where everyone who wants to contribute donates blood.
Another example is our First Aid Course. We are in the process of arranging these courses for all employees. This arrangement is first of all a matter of health, safety and work environment, which is something we have always been focused on. Furthermore, we believe our employees gain a lot from a course like this both in practical terms, but also in team spirit from working together in a large group. The course is finally a part of both internal and external corporate social responsibility. By giving our employees a first aid course we ensure that they learn something they can use to help others both in the office, outside and at home.
We arrange for game nights and sport events where our employees can spend time together in a social forum as well as take exercise.
IFU and INITTO
The Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries, IFU, invested in 2004 in INITTO. In relation to this INITTO committed to certain policies concerning the environment, work environment, safety, human rights and overall business ethics. We are examined on these parameters every year, and have always passed the tests brilliantly.
INITTO supports the Danish Cancer Society
INITTO supports the Danish Cancer Society, which is an organisation that works with research and prevention of cancer as well as support of cancer patients and their relatives. The donations INITTO makes every year helps the Danish Cancer Society to fulfill their goal; in 15 years cancer will be something people can live with.
The future of CSR in INITTO
We strive to constantly evolve within CSR, and we have many ideas and plans for the future. Therefore, we have several more or less developed ideas that we want to focus on in the future.
A thing we are focusing on at the moment is “green IT”. We are already working in an environment friendly way in terms of recycling and sustainable development, and we want to make this an even bigger part of our organization.
CSR is an ongoing process and in order to be on the forefront, we want to keep an open mind and think out of the box. We want CSR to be saturating the entire organization and we want CSR to be a way of thinking on all levels.
